ElevenLabs Doubles Valuation to $22 Billion in $300 Million Employee Share Sale

TL;DR

  • ElevenLabs announced a $300 million tender offer allowing employees to sell part of their vested equity.
  • The transaction values the voice AI startup at $22 billion, twice its February valuation.
  • Wellington and T. Rowe Price co-led the employee share purchase.

ElevenLabs has reached a $22 billion valuation through a $300 million employee tender offer, doubling the valuation attached to its February funding round.

The voice AI startup announced that employees could sell a portion of their vested equity to investors, giving them an opportunity to realize some of the value of their holdings while the company remains private.

Wellington and T. Rowe Price co-led the transaction. Both are institutional investors that back private companies with the intention of retaining their shares after those businesses enter public markets.

Employee Share Sale Doubles February Valuation

The tender offer marks another substantial increase in ElevenLabs’ valuation.

In February, the company raised $500 million at an $11 billion valuation. The latest transaction values it at twice that level, reflecting investor willingness to purchase employee shares at a significantly higher price.

The distinction between the two transactions matters. February’s fundraising brought capital into the business, while the employee tender allows existing shareholders to sell some of their holdings.

The $300 million transaction therefore represents employee liquidity rather than a newly announced $300 million funding round for company operations.

Employees can cash out part of their vested equity, giving them access to proceeds without waiting for an acquisition or initial public offering.

Wellington and T. Rowe Price Lead the Transaction

The participation of Wellington and T. Rowe Price brings additional institutional backing to ElevenLabs’ shareholder base.

These investors can support companies across the transition from private ownership to public markets. Their involvement provides employees with buyers for shares that otherwise may be difficult to sell.

However, the transaction does not establish an IPO timetable. The announcement supplied no date for a public listing or indication that a debut is imminent.

For ElevenLabs, the immediate outcome is a higher valuation attached to the share sale and a structured opportunity for employees to convert some equity into cash.

Liquidity Offers Become a Retention Tool

Employee tender offers are becoming more common among fast-growing AI startups competing for technical talent.

Equity can represent a substantial portion of employee compensation, but its value may remain inaccessible for years when a company stays private.

Periodic share sales give staff a way to benefit financially from growth while retaining some ownership in the business. That can make remaining with a company more attractive when competitors are offering new compensation packages.

ElevenLabs’ latest tender fits that broader pattern. It offers employees partial liquidity without requiring them to wait for a company-wide exit.

Second Tender Reflects Rapid Valuation Growth

This is the second employee secondary transaction authorized by ElevenLabs.

Its first tender, held in September 2025, totaled $100 million and valued the company at $6.6 billion. The new offer is three times larger, while the valuation has risen to more than three times that earlier level.

Founded in 2022, ElevenLabs is known for technology that generates realistic human voices and sound effects. The four-year-old company operates from New York and London.

At $22 billion, it now ranks among Europe’s most valuable startups. The employee share sale gives staff a way to participate in that valuation growth while institutional investors increase their exposure to the voice AI business.
